I cant tell if my belly button ring is infected or not

Postby **amber** on Fri Jul 09, 2004 11:03 am

I just got my belly button pierced about a week ago. Ive been cleaning it and using some sea salt mixed with warm water a few times every day and its still red and pussing a little bit. The top hole looks looser like its been stretched a little. Im not sure if its infected or if its normal. Should i take it out or leave it in?? :?

I got my belly button peirced for about a year now and I still have the same problem as you. on the bottom of the ring its red and puss still comes out. I just left it alone, don't bother me to much.

I am having the exact same problem...Mine is killing me, the top hole is stretched looking plus now starting to form a scab including puss....it's so cute but pretty gross. I'm wondering if I need to go to a doctor or just keep cleaning it.
I'm not using sea salt though, my piercer told me to use Dial Anti-bacterial soap only and not to bother with sea salt or saline.

Piercing

I have had my belly button pierced for 8 months now. At first I had the same problems that you all are talking about but just kept washing it really good with the Antibacterial soap and sometimes spraying it with Bactine. That really helps if you have any pain to kind of numb it. I've talked to various other people and I've heard that the belly button is not like your ear. It will never "heal". It is always considered an open sore. I switched my belly button ring about two months ago and now I'm having more problems. So, I'm going back to my original ring and trying to treat the blister the same way I always have. So, all I can say is hang in there and try not to have too much rub against it. That will also make it worse. Good luck!!

I got my bellybutton peirced about 2 months ago. I wasnt sure if it was sucha good idea.. i cant even wear earings because my ears get really sore and red. But for a while my bellybutton was fine.. Doing the normal a little bit of puss n the crusty stuff and it was red.. but this only hapened on the top. NOW The top is FINE its not even red.. but now the bottom is hurting alot, alot of puss is coming out and its Bleeding as well now. Im also having problems trying to clean it because i cant get it off of the ring. And now theres blood attached, but its more like a lose peice of skin i cant get off  :? :!: :?: ahh it hurts an i dont know what to do. i REALLY dont want to take it out.
But just advice. Keep cleaning it. DONT over clean it because that will expand the healing process and try and stay away from anything like iodine or things for cuts. they Burn and can act like an acid on your peircing.. YOUCH

I Just got mine pierced two weeks ago, and it is really red. The guy who pireced it said to use Dial antibacterial soap. So i did, like 3 times a day, and pus would come out (very gross!) but then, i stopped cleaning it this week and even changed the bar ,and it looks a lot better, and feels better too. :D But, hey i dunno, maybe i should clean it more it would suck if it got infected!

I've had my belly pierced for about 4 weeks. I think theres an infection or something went wrong because the skin is sort of purplish, swollen, and the skin is soft... Looks like its rotten. :? Some skin from the top came off as well. It looks like some of my skin just fell off! What's going on? What should I do? [/b]
