actually my penultimate post was of relevance to this thread and was, i venture to suggest, better advice than you were offering. and i do have experience in using windows 98se, as that was the os on my last pc.

I don't use win98se (although I used to) but those fractal galleries were very useful in making my desktop pretty... thank you. I wish we had a thread for cool looking desktops. perhaps I'll make one and list the links you posted in this thread.
