Did anyone have problems with slippery pavements this morning?
I stayed at my boyfriend's last night. This is normally great as he lives in the town where I work, and it is only about half a miles walk from his house to my office place, whereas from where I live I have a 25 mile drive each way. Anyway, there had been a heavy shower last night and then it had frozen with a sharp frost. I set off for work, wearing a navy skirt, tights and the navy medium heeled court shoes I always wear to work.
On the way from b/fs to work I have to walk over a bridge and then up a steep hill. My heels are about 3 inches and have a completely smooth leather sole. As I started to walk up the hill I realised that the rain had frozen and the pavement was treacherous!! I was slipping all over the place and could'nt get up the hill at all. There is no alternative route without going a very long way areound, so I had to take my shoes off and walk up the hill in my stockings feet. When I reached the top my feet were freezing and soaked, - what a nightmare!! I put my shoes back on and walked the rest of the way to the travel agents where I work. When I arrived at work my feet were still frozen and the insides of my shoes were also now wet!!
I decided I had to take off my shoes and as I did'nt have another pair of shoes with me have been padding around in my stockings feet all da!!
I am staying with my b/f again tonight and I think it is going to be frosty again tomorrow AM. Has anyone got any suggestions to help me tomorrow please. Unfortunately I have only got my work shoes with me and no others. I always go barefoot in my b/fs house, which is why I did'nt bother bringing any other footwear with me.
I did wonder if the same thing happens again tomorrow about buying some slippers to change into in work. At least then I would have something dry and comfy to wear in work.
What do people think please?
I know I could drive home and back, but I am really looking forward to staying with my b/f, and also the journey is pretty rural so the roads may well be bad!!
Sounds like quite an adventure! What sort of heels do you have on those shoes? If they're stilettos, you could try walking up the slope pushing your heels in to give you grip.
Did you get any grip from your shoes at all on that slope?
My work shoes are about 2 - 3 inch navy courts, - so not really stilletoes.
Would you believe the same thing happened again today. I stayed at my boyfriends last night and it was frosty again. Stupidly I did'nt have any other shoes with me, and the hill was icy. To make matters worse the council had tried to put salt or grit down, but it was still slippery!! So I had to walk up the hill with my shoes off again and tip toe over all the mess from the salt or grit in my stockings feet, - a complete disaster!! You can imagine the state my shoes and tights were in by the time I reached work, and of course my feet were wet so I had to leave my shoes off in work.
I have decided that I am going to start wearing my trendy fashionable wellies to work to avoid this happenig again. Also, when I drive to work from my own home I often stop to visit my horse on the way, so wellies would be more suitable than heels for that!!
I think I can get away without formal shoes in work, and am planning to keep a pair of slippers in work to change into and wear all day in the travel agents where I work. I figure they will be nice and comfy to pad around the office in during the bad weather, and if I have to go outside I will just slip my wellies back on!!
It's not so cold here but the wet weather is sure making the ground slippery.
I walked across the park today in my flats. They slipped and skidded all over the place on the wet grass. At one point there was a slight slope. I slipped so much I thought I wasn't going to get up it. I got there in the end but boy was I slipping a lot.

That sounds like a cool experience! What are your flats like, are they pointy or rounded and what are the bottsom like?

They were slightly pointed toes with smooth hard plastic soles. They were quite new so the soles were still shiny and slippery. I couldn't get any grip at all even though it was only a gentle slope. I left a lot of shiny skid marks on that slope where I slipped so much.
I know rubber soles are available but I hate those. They squeak when I walk along the corridor at work and look awful. The smooth soles are also easier to clean. A quick wipe over and they're like new. The rubber soles hold a lot of dirt and walk it into our house so are not so sensible.

Hey, I'm totally with you with regards to rubber soles, I can't stand the sight of them! Like you say, they squeak, look horrible and I always find myself tripping up on them, smooth and slippey is the way forward I think!!

I got up in the end but only by almost running at it and not stopping. As I said, my shoes were skidding all over the place and couldn't get any grip at all.
Looking back on it, yes it was quite fun but not at the time. I went back again a few days ago and tried again in my slippy flats. This time I wore clothes that wouldn't matter if I fell over. I'd got a short denim skirt and a sweat shirt top. They both wash easily so it's no problem if they get muddy.

This is a very interesting topic for me personally. I am a guy and absolutely love seeing a sexy girl in very high spikes. The way you girls move and the sound of the stilettos, especially on concrete, is so arousing. However my ultimate turn on is when I see you struggling on your heels on difficult surfaces. It's so sexy to see your movements and determined faces. My fav shoe is a nice pump with a 5-6 inch heel scraping on the concrete over cracks and so forth.
Not in a nasty way as I don't won't you to get hurt, but I love it when you stumble/trip/fall/break a heel...It's very sexy watching your delicate heels...imprisioned on your spikes of seduction.
I have only witnessed a few falls, but what a turn on. Your embarrassed blushy faces as you hit the deck is so cute.
The last fall I saw was last feburary on a very wet and icy morning, when a girl was crossing the road in front of me wearing probably 4-5 inch black pumps with a metal heel and ankle strap. The clicking and scraping was immense, but one small stumble on a small crack and she was down and out. I did ask if she was ok to which she simply but kindly replied "Yes thankyou, but it's my own fault for wearing these on a day like today."
Priceless!!! hehe.
