cant use chat

i have a pc at work which can use the chatrooms ok but my laptop at home , although logs into the chatroom ok, if i type a message it throws me back out to the log in screen

What have i to change on my pc at home to allow me to type in the rooms

Try using Linux

Or worse yet have a user name with a space in it
