Now the weather is definately getting colder I wondered how many of you ladies were thinking of purchasing/wearing leather skirts or trousers this winter? I'm a 41 year old male and love the sight of women wearing leather which I find really sexy. My interest stems from when I was hitching-hike around Europe in 1984 and stayed in Paris for 10 days. Every woman was wearing leather that year and it had a huge effect on me. Since then I have bought leather garments for all my girlfriends, which they have worn at my request. My wife, of three years, has a pair of black leather trousers in her wardrobe, a suede skirt and a black leather skirt from Next, all of which she wears from time to time and looks absolutly stunning in - though she won't wear them on demand like all my previous partners. So come on ladies, how many of you will wear leather this winter? I can guarentee it'll warm the cockles of your partners!!

I've got a large number of leather skirts in my wardrobe, ranging from micro length to knee length. I wear some of them in public, but you have to pick and choose the moment and location. I don't entirely agree with the Guest poster who said "It looks absolutely oldfashioned", but certainly it's a very risky item to wear. You can look great in one, or you can look a complete fashion disaster, and unless you're tall and can walk with poise and elegance in high heels, it's probably best for most women to steer clear of them. Remember when Cherie Blair wore that leather suit a few seasons ago? Ugh!
One of the problems many women have is that they own a single leather skirt which their partner loves to see them in, and under pressure they wear it again and again, even when it's completely out of style. I wouldn't wear a short leather skirt in public at the moment, but I'd certainly wear a 50's-style tightly-fitted pencil skirt in combination with one of today's short fitted jackets.
The style and quality of the skirt is very important. If the skirt looks cheap, then so will you. Expect to pay a minimum of 250 UKP for a decent leather skirt.
Leather skirts make you extremely popular with men, who see them as one of the hallmark adverts of a hooker. They also make you highly unpopular with women, who will regard you as a complete joke if the skirt doesn't suit you, or a complete lady if you look great. Consequently, If you want to be comfortable wearing a leather skirt in public you have to become immune to the disdain of women and the fantasy imaginings of men. I don't have a problem with this, but I think most women do.

I totally agree with the initiator of this thread that women look absolutely superb in leather skirts and trousers. Actually, not all women, but for most, leather adds a touch of sexuality that men seem to appreciate.
Personally, I like to see women who combine leather skirts and trousers with simple other garments like blouses and t-shirts. Leather already makes a big statement so it needs to be toned down with elegance and simplicity. The truth is, leather never really goes out of fashion and a cool pair of black leather trousers can be an item season after season.
When my wife and I started dating some ten years ago, she was totally indifferent to leather garments, but when leather came into fashion five years ago she bought two pairs of trousers, two skirts and a dress. Currently she still has a black leather skirt and a black leather dress and whenever she puts them on (occasionaly), she doesn't fail to impress me.

Leather often has a tasteless, unclassy, out of fashion vibe about it, unless it's a piece made by someone like Ferre who knows how to work with leather.

Thanks for responses. I found MariaD's one particualrly enlightening - being the naive bloke I am, I never thought about a connection between leather and prostition but it does make sense. Also, I totally agree about cheap leather.. Thanks MariaD! I also liked Jake's response - I do think most blokes do like leather though many men are "ashamed" to admit to anything that is considered out of the normal. I once had a mate who was a right womaniser and I recall, in the Eighties, we were in a chip shop after a night out and he spent ages chatting to the girl in front who was wearing a black leather mini skirt - I don't think even he would have done that if she had been wearing jeans. I think if you put it to a vote most guys like girls wearing leather jeans/skirts. I just need to persaude my wife to wear it more often...thanks agin to those that responded to my first message on the board.

Last week I was on holiday in Dubai and one day on the public beach I noticed a Chinese looking girl wearing a pair of black leather trousers. Yes, on the beach at 28 degrees, just walking around barefoot carrying her sandals in one hand. I was intrigued. Why was she wearing leather trousers on the beach? At one point she rolled them up to her knees and dipped her feet in the sea, then she went out, found a spot in the shade and took a nap for a couple of hours. I went closer to take a look and they were real leather trousers that she was wearing. Not that I wanted to chat her up or anything, I was just curious but I admit that she looked very sexy and I'm sure that I wouldn't even have noticed her if she was wearing a pair of regular jeans. There you go - women look sexier in leather trousers, don't know why but they do.
i have a very soft long leather skirt super soft and me and my husband are always having kinky sex when i have my leather skirt on and black knee high leather soft boots on.

I have two leather minis and used to have a leather suit until the cleaner lost it . I once bought what I was told were leather pants but they weren't . Actually they were some polyester look alike . I had all these red sores and blotches from my thighs to my ankles .
Leather skirts and pants were big in the mid 1980s, and the way fashion usually turns the full circle, I'd say they are about due to make a comeback. That's what I'm hoping anyway, because a woman in a nice leather skirt .... well, I'd just worship the ground she walks on. I certainly don't think leather pants and skirts deserve to be classed as hooker clothing. Just wear your leather items one at a time - a leather skirt with a conservative jacket and shoes, and there's no reason you couldn't make this a work outfit. The day you wear your knee-high boots, don't wear your leather skirt, unless you want your male colleagues drooling. If you find leather too expensive, there are some wonderful imitation materials about that look exactly like leather.
i have 3 pairs of leather trousers/jeanes cant wait till i can wear them out in public, might post a pic or two if anyone is interested.
just one tip if u wear leather it must always be tight.
I have 6 pairs of leatherjeans, and 4 jackets, and I love to wear it all the year. I total agree with susan23, leather must be tight
In the summer leather jeans can be to warm, but here in the north of Europe it is not so often.
Last summer, on a cold day, I was on a beach with some frinds, and later in the day the sun came, and it got warm. My frinds was going into the water, but I did' n bring my bikini. There I stoud, in my leatherjeans and t-shirt. After a 2 minuts 2 af my BF came, and caried me into the water vith all my cloth on. First I got upset, but the feeling af wet leather was fantastic. I ran in and out the water several times.
Next day I used some leatheroil, and the jeans was as new.

i agree that the feeling of wet leather is fantastic! once i was out clubbing in my leather jeans and later went to a nearby lake with my mates. we were all slightly drunk and at one point i went into the pond in my leather jeans, something i probably would never do otherwise but it was a fantastic feeling and i've been wanting to do it again ever since. luckily the jeans recovered and i still have them.
i hope more men and women will wear leather trousers 'cause not only that it looks great, it also feels great to wear.
