in laws and money!! help!!

how can i ask my in laws 2b for money towards our wedding! all they seem to do is presume that either we or my parents will pay for everything! they haven't lifted a finger so far and not offered a single penny!! help!!

This sounds like a job for your fiancee. Do you and your partner get on with them?

we do ish!!! im civil but have very different points of view so i dont see eye to eye shall we say! he does get on with them in small doses we try not to see them that often as we live about 40 mins from them, my only worry is that hes not always the most assertive when it comes to his mother!

My parents haven't even congratulated me on getting engaged, which was 1 yr ago on December 6th. They obviously aren't going to help nor do they care, so, my fiance and I are in the same bind at the moment. We're asking his parents but they don't have a lot either, more than likely we will take out a loan. We were going to just get married in front of a judge/sign the paperwork-then get married a few years later when we had the money, but his Mom doesn't want to do that.
So much stress-so little time.
