All they have to do is register which is free and takes less then a minute . Sometimes members pose as guests to say something they don't want following them around . In other cases banned people ( like two disturbed trolls who hated me among others ) come back to flame the site and other members .

This is not stupid, it a good question.
Guests should not become members or there would be too many members.
