Hi,
Have just been to get my next 6 months of Microgynon 30 and the nurse said that my BMI was too high (over 30) to be on the combined pill. Even though, I have had a happy 30-32 BMI for the past 4 years or so.

It came as a bit of a shock, Surprised she said that it is dangerous for someone with a BMI of over 30 to be on Microgynon 30.

Because no-one decided to check my BMI before now it's been risking my health for a while! Mad

I have been on the same pill since I was 15 when I had irregular periods lasting 24-35 days at a time and was put on Microgynon 30 to control these.

I have now been prescribed Cerazette (a progestogen only pill).

Question Has anyone else been changed from Microgynon to a progestogen only pill and still lost all of this weight people are talking about? Question

I'll keep the site updated with my progress....bit worried about the depression/mood swings Confused

Hey, I've been on Microgynon 30 for 7 years and have recently decided to come off of it, after a few unexplained depressive spells and mood swings.

I came off of it in January and whilst I felt so much better for it (I lost 5 pounds and have had better moods), I now find myself with no period. My body keeps feeling like I'm about to start any minute, but nothing comes.

I have had cramps and on/off sore nipples for 2 weeks now. I feel less hungry and sad about everything.

I'm worried that I may be pregnant, but I haven't had sex very often and we have been using condoms.

I'm guessing this is normal, but I was wondering what to do about it.

I came off microgynon at the start of this year (on it for about 2 years) as I am now teaching english in korea and like others didnt see the point. I also had problems with depression when taking the pill that have thankfully totally vanished now! its coming up on 6 weeks now since my last "break" and i haven't had a period yet. I suppose everyone is different but wondering how long it took for other people??

Hi! ive just found this site and have been really interested to read everyones experiences after stopping taking Micro 30. I am 28 and have been on it for 12 years.

My weight has fluctuated over the last few years despite a regular diet and exercise regime. Also i keep having spot breakouts on my chin and forehead, which i have been told are 'hormonal areas'. I also feel bloated a lot of time depsite looking at foods that may cause this.

Im figuring now is as good a time as any to be free of the pill although its quite scary as i really can not afford to put on weight and hope my skin doesnt get worse.

Any more experiences anyone has had after taking micro 30 for so long and then stopping it would be great to hear. Im due to start my next pack on Thursday and am really undecided!

xx

I was on it for about 9 years and decided to come off it to start a family. In the 9 years I was on it I put on about 3 stone in all and when I came off it I didn't lose any weight (if anything I put more on) but my body shape has definately changed. I have more of an hour glass shape now.

I came off Microgynon 6 yrs ago, had no periods for 1 year, then they were fine. Went on it again and came off 11 months ago - they are now every 8-9 weeks so irregular and lighter than they used to be. My Dr said they can take 18 months to get back to normal. So there is hope they get back to normal it just takes time. It is annoying we are not warned off this when given the pill. I also want tp start a family and have to wait a year or 2 to even be able to start trying

I came off microgynon 30 about 3 months ago after having been on it for 6 years with few breaks in that time. Over the 6yrs I did start putting on weight but so gradually I didn't blame it only on the pill. I came off it and pounds are just dropping off me. I was never very big and only have a petite frame and am getting worried as my BMI is getting really underweight now. I also haven't really had a period since I stopped taking it, well not properly, and the reason I started taking it in the first place was to control my ridiculously heavy and painful periods so I'm worried. Judging by the other posts though I see that this is quite common and so I feel a bit better...I never thought I'd see the day I wished I got my period back, but I'm starting to feel weird without it! I saw someone else got very dry skin as another side effect and the same has happened on my hands, its like excema. On the upside I have been in a fabulous mood since coming off it and am much less sensitive and emotionally fragile so I'm happy about that. If I'm not having periods does that mean I'm not ovulating? Its all very confusing!

Hi

I was wondering if anyone has some advice. I've been on microgynon for about 1.5 years and have come off it about 7 weeks ago. Since then, I did not get my period. I am getting a bit concerned as to whether i'm pregnant.

I did read some of the posts on this site and it seems that quite a bit of people experienced the same thing i'm experiencing now. Can someone tell me after leaving microgynon, how long after that did you get your period?

I also find that i'm putting on more weight now, any solutions?

Thanx.

After 4 years of condoms, my partner and I decided to try the pill and i hated it. after only 2 months I have stopped, because after developing a lovely figure by working damn hard in the gym for a year and eating well (and receiving soo many compliments), only a few weeks of the pill mycrogynon made my stomach boom up to the point where i feel disgusting. I got down to a size 8 from 12 back in the day, and am now struggling to get into my size 8 clothes, feel ugly so dnt want to undress, defeating the point. my boobs have also grown, which isnt good for me cos i was big anyway and know struggle to keep my back straight and feel bulky not sexy.

If you are not fussy about your weight ladies, aside to the gain this pill only gave me a few mood swings and headaches at first, but otherwise was reliable for its purpose. However if you are, i dnt recommend. ive lost my confidence and dnt even want to wear tight clothes.
