I see the point, what with the divorce rate higher than ever and monogamy deteriorating. Its keeping up with the times in terms of modern relationships, and protecting your assets - mind you, it does kill the romance.
My friend got married 3 years ago, and had a pre nup. Basically, she was quite well off (her parents died and left her an estate, business etc) and he wasnt. It was for her really. The deal was if they had children, they all got an equal share of 50% (2 kids, they get 25% etc) and her and her partner owned 50%, but she managed it. If they got divorced, he had no right to the business etc - something like that. Anyway, he tried to swindell her out of £500k, she found out and they divorced - leaving him with no stake or claim to the business, and in prison for fraud - so it helped her immensely.
Suppose it depends on your financial situation at the time - if you're both poor, doesnt matter - its what youre situation may be when you divorce that counts, but it holds no bearing on your love, more a looking out for the future thing - can always be destroyed if you change your mind later..........
