Hi everyone,
Well for the past few days I've been suffering with horrible swollen feet, ankles and bottoms of legs. I think it's all down to the heat but was wondering if anyone has any tips other than keeping your feet up. By lunchtime they're like balloons and by the time I get home from work they ache something terrible. Any tips to help reduce this will be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jo

I have suffered with swollen feet for years I can actually feel them filling with fluid when they are swelling, I was told by the doctor to put my feet up at any opportunity as I didn’t want to go on water tablets for the rest of my life (not that I have the time to follow that advice).
Then I saw a programme about travelling it was showing the difference between sitting still on an aeroplane and getting up and walking round or exercising the feet, the people sitting still had really bad swelling. The ones that got up and walked around were fine.
Then they did the same thing, but on a coach and train the same thing happened.
I decided mine must be caused by working at my computer for long periods of time and not moving my feet I try to get up and walk around but mostly forget about it until they start to swell. |

Hey I've got the swollen ankles thing going on too!
I find that walking on the beach is really good because the sand is uneven and really gets the circulation going, and then you can put your feet in the cool water and it feels good.
BUT not everyone lives close to the beach, so generally some walking around should help a bit. And put your feet up as much as possible. Also, get someone to massage your feet and legs when you've got them stuck up in the air! |
