Well, someone has to start Smile

Things that annoy me!

People not turning squarely at junctions. (i.e. coming to a T junction to turn right and they move over to the left, thereby stopping anybody turning left, extremely inconsiderate)
People driving with headlamps on during the day
People driving with fog lamps on when it is not foggy. Rain is not fog!
People signalling right when going straight across at a roundabout! If you are going left - signal left. If you are going over don't signal left until you've passed the first exit. If going right, signal right until you have passed the first exit. Stop signalling until you have passed the 2nd exit, signal left coming up to the 3rd exit
Overtaking Lane hogs. There is not a fast lane on motorways, every lane except the inside lane is an overtaking lane. If you are not overtaking anyone you shouldn't be in an overtaking lane.
Speed cameras! - Just another stealth tax by this corrupt goverment
Seat Belts - My life was saved by not wearing one, I was recently fined £30 for not wearing one. The PC was amused when I said if I had been wearing one when I had my accident I wouldn't be here to pay more tax.

Just a few things that drive me mad, it may generate discussion.

I do believe you must have your headlights on all the time. It's a safety thing. In the newer/newest cars when you start your car the headlights turn on automatically, correct?

Not in the UK (yet, thank god!)
Only some foreign cars like Volvo do that due to Swedish laws.
I believe new motorcycles in the UK have lights on permanently, even more light pollution.

i dont think daytime headlight use is mandatory in the UK yet but bikers use them anyway as they belive it makes them more visible to other road users(car drivers)

a study in the US done in the 80,s Found that although daytime headlight use made road users more aware of motorcycles , it made their speed more difficult to judge, and as a result car drivers were more likley to pull out on a motorcycle at road junctions. Rolling Eyes

People driving with headlamps on during the day - Some cars do that without the person putting the lights on. What is the big deal about it? It's light so isn't gonna beam in your eyes.

People driving with fog lamps on when it is not foggy. Rain is not fog! - No rain isn't fog but these people are being safe. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Speed cameras! - Just another stealth tax by this corrupt goverment - Nope! It's a way of keeping people safe. I don't agree with them being on th motorway but I think there should be more in villages. And they should be allowed to be hidden.

Seat Belts - My life was saved by not wearing one - Seat belts save hundreds of lives every year. How do you know you wouldn't of survived if you wore it? The only way you would know is have the exact same accident and wear it.

No rain isn't fog but these people are being safe. I'd rather be safe than sorry. They are not being safe, they are being stupid! Why do you think they are called fog lamps! It dazzles unnecessary, rain makes it worse. rear fogs especially because then you can't see brake lights. DOH!

Nope! It's a way of keeping people safe. I don't agree with them being on th motorway but I think there should be more in villages. And they should be allowed to be hidden. If they are hidden how are they slowing down traffic in a village? More proof that it is another steaalth tax!

Seat belts save hundreds of lives every year. How do you know you wouldn't of survived if you wore it? The only way you would know is have the exact same accident and wear it. I know because the police told me. It was a side impact, I was thrown out of the front passenger door. If I had been wearing a seat belt my ribs would have been crushed into my lungs and my neck would have snapped like a dry twig! I agree that they save some lives, but they can also kill. Find alll the facts before you criticise

Oh, BTW, I passed my Driving Test first time after 6 lessons. I passed my motorcycle test first time. I passed my advanced drivers test first time. I have taken speed driving lessons. It is the slow dithering morons out there that cause most accidents. Speedd limits are set for the lowest common denominator, people who don't know how to drive properly! If you understand a car's geometry you can take corners quicker.

Speed limits are there for safety. They should be stuck to.

I don't care if you passed all these tests first time. You aren't the first and you won't be the last.

If speed cameras is the only thing that keeps fools from speeding then they should be there. If you dont speed you won't have to pay fines, which means no money for the government! It's that simple.

The speed limits are too low generally. Kept that way by this government so they can raise more revenue. Cars have anti ilock brakes, and all sorts of new driver aids. The tyres are more efficient. The speed limits have stayed the same for time immorial. People who drive faster are more aware, whereas poeple pootling around are more interested in chatting to their neighbours than paying attention. It's these drivers that cause accidents. I agree that inappropriate use of speed is a danger. The skill is knowing when to drive faster.

What about the "middle lane owners club" on the motorway.

If you stay correctly in the inside lane, then you come across some old granny trundling along at 25mph, you so often find you have no choice but to brake because of some plonkers in BMW's hogging the middle lane - you cannot get out. The only way to avoid this is to join the middle lane owners club yourself.

Arrrrgh!

By the way -

What has a BMW convertable and it's owner got in common?

They both have soft tops!

What is the disadvantage to having a BMW convertable

You can hear every passer by shout "wan*ker"!

I think you're wrong about your roundabout 'turn right' method.

You should approach in rhl & signal right, keep the right signal on until you pass the exit before the one you want to take. Then signal left & manoeuvre.

Sorry Lesley, but it has been proven time and time again, speed cameras do NOT reduce the amount of accidents! Although I do agree in placing cameras where its needed (ie, outside schools etc).

Speed itself is not the major cause of accident, its the person behind the wheel! How often do you hear death caused by ambulance in an accident? Not very often! How often do you hear racing drivers causing an accident? Not very often as well! Because they have proper training and know how to drive!

If a bad driver gets behind the wheel of the slowest car in the world, and a good driver gets behind the wheel of the fastest car in the world; I would say slow car + bad driver will have a higher chance of causing an accident then the latter!

IMO, speed cameras are only cash machines.
