Hi Dolly,

We went to Corfu last October and Kos last month.

Corfu was beautiful, lots of pretty coves and very Greek still. We hired a speedboat for the day for £60 and whizzed round the north/west of the island, mooring at tavernas for lunch or a beer. We had never driven a boat before and it was easy. Saw a school of flying fish, amazing. Its well worth hiring a car for two days to see the island, particularly the north. Fairly hilly but good roads.

Corfu Town was also lovely. The waterpark looked super but was closed in October, its set in the middle of the countryside and easily reached by bus (full of happy chatty greek ladies who can't speak English but insist on chatting to the bewildered children!).

The food was great, marvellous salads and tomatoes. I well and truely could have stayed there forever.

This year went to Kos. It was all Germans and hamburgers. We had a good time in the hotel but were not impressed by the island at all. It was tired looking, we ate hamburgers all week as there was very little other choice, other than one restaurant in Kos Town that did great Kebab sort of meals. The beaches were stoney and nothing special, except Sunny Beach which was nice (only restaurant served just burgers again).

I wouldn't recommend Kos for anything really but couldn't recommend Corfu enough. I cried when I left Corfu!

Helen

Kefalonia ( of Captain Corellis Mandolin fame) is a truly heavenly place and a close second is Samos. My idea of paradise.

I've been only in Crete, it's not bad, with the Knossos ruins.

I've been to Rhodes, I don't like the crowded areas so I hired a local to take me on tours to look at the island. I would recommend to go there. Smile
