My partner and I are in the process of trying to arrange our wedding in Koh Samui for next year but are finding the ceremonys quite expensive. We are looking at Baan Haad Ngam Resort or Rajapruek - if anyone has stayed at these resorts your opinion would be appreciated.
Also is there a charge at the Amphur office when you register the marriage? Think we will just get it all sorted in Bangkok as apparently the Amphur office in Samui keeps some strange opening times.
Its all a bit daunting!! Any advice would be great. |

Hi,
we are arranging beach weddings here at Big John Samui Resort now for 7 years. To really make it safe, we recommend to appear at the Ministry of Foreign affairs in person. Now they offer an "express service" so you will be able to collect your papers within the same day, if you apply in the morning.
We do not believe in pre arranged packages as from our experience people have different needs and budgets to match. Though anything imaginable we will try to arrange.
You might have a beautiful sunset beach wedding ceremony for as low as 8000 baht and a spiritual Buddhist ceremony for 12 000 baht.
If you like more informations about weddings in Thailand and especially on Koh Samui, please contact us through our wedding site at http://www.samuiwestcoast.de/wedding/wedding_english.htm
all the best and congratulations on your upcoming marriage

Hi,
We're arranging everything ourselves. We're doing all the paper work in Bangkok ourselves and then getting married at an Amphurs office there.
Hopefully we can get a blessing at a temple afterwards
What are you're plans?
If you need to know anything else just post a reply.

| We would really appreciate advice about marrying in Thailand. We've decided we definitely want the ceremony in either Phuket or Koh Samui, but, having never been there, we're unsure of which resort to choose. Also, we're baffled by the legal complications. Some companies are telling us we need to spend 6 nights in Bangkok, others are telling us they can arrange everything and we need spend only one night there. Help! |

Hi,
both companies are right. If you arrange all the details by yourself you might have to spend up to 6 days in Bangkok. But if you choose the right days (no weekends or holidays) and use the express service of the Thai Foreign affairs office it can be done within 3 days (2 nights). The process is in fact quite simple.
The other companies do have a representative in Bangkok, to whom you will give a power of attorney, so he can pick up the documents and sending them to any place you wish to.

We want to get married on Koh Tao in April next year as it's where we got engaged - I'd really appreciate any advice on places/organisers etc. as everyone seems to just keep recommending Koh Samui (lovely but not where we want to go!)
Thank you
