Different times calls for different thinking. In FDR and Truman's days, Americans had jobs, were working, and starting to build wealth in the midlle class. In this day and age, with right wing thought leaning towards globalization and corporate profit at any cost, Americans are losing their jobs, homes, possessions, and the liberal politicians have to find a way to honor the flawed agreements made by the right and still find new ways to help those effected here.

Explain to me how a global health care plan, which is what ultimately liberals want, is going to be any different than globalization?
I would think socialized medicine is a shortcut FOR globalization?

And though I am not sure republican are at the root of globalization, as you say...I do know they are against socialized medicine!

And did not FDR take office during the great depression?
Did not the war effort play a part in turning the economy around?

They are against socialized medicine because their big business buddies won't be able to golden parachute their execs at 8 or 9 figure retirements. Poor things! Rolling Eyes Why conservatives are SO against EVERYONE having adequate health care is, to me, nothing more than an atrocity towards humanity. Without health, we have NO LIFE! So, am I to believe that I am worth less as a human being than some jerk with every benefit in a ivory tower?

I work and PAY my own way!
And I work very HARD for my health care coverage!

Explain to me why my hard work has to cover someone that desires not to work at all?

Explain to me how you make an responsible adult of someone when they are dependent on the handouts of others?

In this day and age, buddy, it isn't about who doesn't want to work at all, it is about those who have been f*cked out of everything. Conservativism and GREED have put them out, the least you can do for it, is to make sure people have their health so they can dig those ditches you so desperately need! Rolling Eyes Given a REAL choice, most people would rather work than live off the government, because the government SUCKS! That's right, I said it SUCKS. What's more, the people that voted for the current administration suck even more, for following and believing in this republican bull S***. Get off your high horse, your tax dollars are going into social security, and more than just you is going to be utilizing that! Your tax dollars go into water and sewage treatment, and a lot of people use that. Property taxes and schools? Oh, and let's talk about public funds being used to bus the over priveleged brats in private school to and from! Give me a break, you talk more garbage than the radio.

Not necessarily. Heartless people and ignorance come in all forms. However, educated people . . . never-mind. It makes no difference to you. Continue playing your game.

Well then... care to share how much you donated to charity & hospitals last year?

See... if I want to be altruistic..it should be my choice.
Not something shoved down my throat.
If you want to be altruistic... write a check yourself!

Why would I share with you? Do you think you would actually believe me if I revealed my personal info to you? Besides, you don't reveal anything on here except that you play your games.

I will say this though, I give because I'm able to give. It's also required by us to give charity, not by the government but by the teaching of love. I also take advantage of the tax credit I can claim from/on 'most' of my gifts. The amount of taxes that I pay per year is probably what you make in 3 years if not more. Don't tell me anything about donations or taxes or taking care of others. I employ and support several families by the way I make my living. As far as writing myself a check, yes I have to do that too. I am self-employed. I do not care to support lazy asses but, I am for medical assistance being given to all that is in need of it. If we don't give of our good fortune, whatever large or small that fortune is, we will never open ourself for abundance. To give is to receive. That is a universal law of Karma.

While you think you are so safe in "your own back yard" you have made it clear that you don't travel by air and you think airport security is all being done wrong. OK, could that be because it doesn't not directly you. Fred, you care about you. You say you care about children but I don't believe you when you tell a girl on the forum that she has a bad mother. You are full of crap, however, your threads do keep us all busy with something to do on the forum. I for one am usually in transcient when I'm playing on FF so.... I will take the bait. It's either this or read another book. Wireless internet has made my paperback purchases almost nil.

Now happy day to you. TA! Wave

Let me get this straight, because I hold different beliefs from you, you have the know with all to spout rubbish like I have no job, or live at home? That's too bad, I really like you! I think you would be suprised what I make in my profession, ace.

Be calm, Ivan. Hairy back (or fred) is ten seconds of distortion and then hours of rage. None of it counts for anything.

As usual, Fred, YOU OVER SIMPLIFY EVERYTHING! I WORK DAMN HARD FOR MY LOUSY HEALTH CARE COVERAGE--70/30, $3000 DEDUCTIBLE THAT I CAN'T AFFORD TO USE!

Lots of people in the same boat I'm in. I think it would be MIGHTY WHITE of the US Government to put everybody in the same boat--INCLUDING YOU! Or how about putting me in the same boat that you're in?? I could certainly go for that as well.

Registered Republican....
Voted either Libertarian, or Independent American for presidential nominee since I was eligible to vote, however--1976 to the present, to be exact. Why break a perfect record of non-compliance to business-as-usual Party Politics? Although, if a decent candidate had made it into the Republican Party nomination this year, I probably would have been sorely tempted, but there's no chance of that now. Crying or Very sad Mad

When I nominated Azraelle for "our" team, it was actually that libertarian/broadminded type of flexible thinking that I think is apparent among some of the debaters on here, that made me select some of these people - rather than the way they may or may not vote in their respective elections...

And let's not forget that since the Reagan years, each US president has included a card-carrying member of the opposite team on his staff - to give that opposing perspective and 'insiders' knowhow..

In California the Governator went to their state election with a team of more than 60 people - including several registered Democrats, and the Kennedy's backing him as well, courtesy of his missus.

Cool

Those are examples of rounded and multi dimensional thinking. There are some issues I am more conservative about, and many I am liberal about. The are issues where independents and other unconventional parties I agree with. But for all the woes of the world to be placed squarely on Democratic shoulders when most of the worst has shitstormed humanity since Bush stole office, I am not for that.
