Oh do give it a rest Fred! How many more threads can you start on the same tedious subject?

And if the rest of you have any sense, my post will be the last one.

It's a hard question this. I don't know the answers but it brings me to another question. Does a child want to live their life with the knowledge that they are the result of a rape and an unwanted pregnancy?

Adoptive parents need not know the circumstances.
Certainly the child doesn't need to know the circumstances.

And what callous person would dream of even telling a child that?
Telling would be cruel.

Maybe a mother who was raped and didn't want a child.

Well then... I would think any child would be grateful not to have been raised by such a cruel mother!

My mum was raped and she did get pregnant. Nobody was told (I only got told last few years) and my sister still hasn't been told. My sister is at the age now where she is wanting to know her real rather. My mum keeps putting it off because she doesn't know what to say, I keep telling her to tell my sister the truth but she thinks its hard for my sister to hear the truth.

I honestly don't know what I would do if i was in the position my mum was but I know one thing, She is one hell of a strong woman!

It may be a travesty for your sister to hear the truth but I'd hope it would bring your sister and mother even closer together and your sister realises all the hard times your mother has been through.

It isn't as easy, my sister has ADHD and is a completely off the rails! She moved out of mums and now lives in a shared house for naughty teens! She is aggressive and stroppy!

I disagree.
I think she was weak when she burdened you with something you had no need to know.

Agreed - How can you say that.... I would think any child would be grateful not to have been raised by such a cruel mother! How can you say that too.... How can you be a cruel mother if your raped...!!??

If the pregnancy was to be aborted for a proper reason, not like a teenager getting pregnant and then deciding they didnt want it. Then if they think that is best for the child then so be it.
To go thru 9months of pregnancy letting the child grow inside you for so long, and then putting up for adoption - very very strong women can only do that, i know for a fact i dont think i could do either... unless for a real adult reason...

Again... that's a weak mother burdening a child with news that only makes the mom feel better.
That's not a good mum
