My 10 year old nudist daughter

During the hot summer my daughter said she was too hot in bed and had decided to sleep naked. This didn't bother me as my husband always sleeps naked as do I if the weather's hot otherwise I would normally wear a nightshirt. It was hardly surprising then that she had decided it was ok to go between her room and the bathroom while still naked. I didn't mind as it's something I've often done myself during the night.

While the weather was hot we had a family sized inflatable pool set up in the back garden. My daughter, eager to use it when she returned home from school, would often run into the garden, strip off and jump straight in without dressing in swimwear. I was a little shocked at first but wasn't worried about her being seen as our garden is very secluded and not over looked. I even tolerated her sneeking into the kitchen for a drink while still undressed.

However, as the months have gone by, she has been pushing the boundries further and further.
I have often caught her naked in her room at a time when it would normally be unusual to be like that. This has sometimes happened when she has had friends over to play; although when questioned she would say they were playing "dress up".
She has also started to come down to breakfast without getting dressed. I've told her that this is naughty and to put a robe on next time. Sometimes she does this but it isn't long before she's coming down naked again. Hubby is at work by this time. When I told him he just laughed. He thought it was "cute" to have such a young "nudist" in the family and said not to worry as she would probably soon grow out of it.
On bath nights I would dry her, then wrap the towel around her body and she would often go downstairs and sit with us on the sofa. Now it's obviously not healthy to sit around in a damp towel for too long so after a while she would be told to remove it and put a robe or T-shirt on. Needless to say the towel would be removed but that's as far as it went. When I challenge her hubby would say "What does it matter? There's only the 3 of us here and she would be going to bed shortly anyway!"

I'm not against nudity but I feel this is getting out of hand. Hubby just sees it as harmless fun but I worry that this "obsession" with being naked will get my daughter into trouble. Please help.

i think when she starts puberty she may learn to be embarassed?

Perhaps she likes getting a reaction out of you.

Ignoring her may help. And turn down the thermostat.

My sister used to shed her clothing at the drop of a hat when she was small. Usually she did it to embarrass us into giving in to her.

It stopped when she reached puberty.

It's a tough one. It's a difficult message to get across that there are times when it's okay to be naked and times when it isn't. If she picks up on the fact that it makes you uncomfortable she'll either do it more to get a rise out of you or start thinking there is something fundamentally wrong with nudity.

Unless she's doing it in situations which are socially awkward (and my sister used to strip off in the supermarket ) I think I'd let her get on with it and hope for a cold snap.

Well my little darling is continueing with her nudist streak and it's something I'm learning to tolerate. It's a very good point GM makes about not putting her off nudity all together. I want her to be comfortable about her body; especially at her age when it's all changing.

So, on Christmas day, she was up at the crack of dawn looking through her stockings in her room to see what 'Santa' had brought her. She then hurried into our room, still naked from her bed, to show us what she had. Of course we acted all surprised at her new things. Of course she then wanted to go downstairs to open the rest of her gifts. I told her in a little while and to return to her room, which she did.

Barely 20 minutes passed before she stuck her head round the door begging for us to get up. I told her another five minutes which made her disappear again. We were now awake so I put on a robe and decided to go and make a cuppa while hubby got dressed. Little 'un must've heard me going down the stairs as, by the time I'd filled the kettle, she was by my side; still naked of course. When I saw her state of dress I sighed but decided not to make an issue of it as it was Christmas and essentially 'her' day. I told her she must have breakfast before she opened her presents. By now hubby had arrived so we all sat down to breakfast.

Little 'un being naked didn't detract from the joy of seeing her open her presents. Seeing how excited she was with her gifts made me realise that it wasn't important whether she was naked or not. I decided to let her enjoy the day and leave her to make her own mind up as to when it was time to get dressed while I concentrated on getting the dinner ready. Suffice to say she was still naked when nanna and grandpa arrived but dressed quickly after opening their presents to her as one was a new dress which they insisted that she put on.

Are you saying nudity is wrong?
As a naturist myself I would encourage you to let her enjoy being naked if that's what she prefers. She'll soon learn the boundries as to when and where it's inappropriate to be seen like that.
I assume your family has either seen her naked or knows about it. If visitors are pre-warned they won't be too shocked and there shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Perhaps you'll soon be relaxed enough to even join her?

or ask advice from other family and freinds how to handle
