hi there....can anybody help?
my son who has just turned 12 has started (how can i explain) clearing his throt and making a stupid sound after doin it every time! he does this about every 30 seconds and as you can amagine is doin my head in!!!!! this has been happening for nearly 3 weeks now. i thought that it might be his voice breaking but have read up on it and really dont think that this is the cause. i also thought that he might have started smoking as he has just started a new school and is hanging around with older boys who smoke.(but i have not got any evidence)... or that it is just a very annoying habbit!!!!!!!!! any suggestions would be appricated!!!!!!!

This post made me laugh because I can't stand it when people (particularly males for some reason) make stupid noises like that! I think you should just tell him that it really annoys you! My brother does the same thing but not every 30 seconds and yes, he smokes. Just tell him to stop doing it!

my older brother who I rarely see has the most annoying habit of constant belching. I don't even think he's aware that he's doing it. God knows how his wife puts up with him cos it drives me nuts and I never see him. He's coming to visit on Friday, no doubt I'll be sitting there with clenched fists!!

hi
i have a 3 year old daughter and an 8 year old son and they fight like cat and dog. I find that by setting a routine (her to bed at 7.30 and he goes at 8.00) helps. try giving her a bath before taking her to bed and reading her a story before turning out the light and closing the door. A routine might be all she needs Very Happy

Also about her being gobby, make it clear that you wont be spoken to in that way and if she persists sit her on the "naughty step/chair" untill she can be nice

Could be shes missing her dummy then, Try replacing it with another comforter such as a blanket or a teddy but whatever you do dont give her back the dummy, you will be playing right in to her hands.
Also if shes going to play up at night just put her to bed, kids soon realise that if they want to stay up at night they have to behave themselves! Very Happy

Might it be an idea to try and not take it so personally. Take him to the doctors purely out of concen. oh and dont give him a complex about it, some people simply form habits.

Abolutely. WTF shes 3 Shocked . Put her bed at 7pm. Keep putting her back in bed if she gets up. Dont converse with her. If it takes all of your energy to keep doing this for days and days b4 it workd so be it. She SO needs her sleep.

RachelG. It's a nevous tic. It will probably disappear of its own accord, but is he stressed more than usual for some reason? Whatever, it will most likely go away, although maybe come back when he's under pressure. It isn't a big thing, a lot of people have it.

I could be wrong but if this is what i think it is.

Is this noise coming from the throat and if it is, it could he has some flem and cant bring it up so by what he is doing is the only way he can get rid of it.
