Hi DonnaS
I went with the Suprima 1211 pants for Katie simply because many others recomended them and have stuck with them as i think they are fab.
Katie likes all the differant colours that you get so she is happy too.
What pants does your girls wear?
Mumofkatie |
Mumofkatie
The oldest wears the Suprima 1211 with the wide elastic waist and legs the youngest wears the Drylife as I used to use those on both girls and had a few pair left. When these are done the youngest will go into the Suprima's as well.
Do you still use disposables on hols?

Hi DonnaS
Katie wears the terry nappies to bed each night.
Katie also has problems during the day due to her very small bladder in that if she needs to go wee....she needs to go now!. If Katie doesn't get to a toilet within 3 - 4 Mins she will pee herself.
If we are going out anywhere i don't know where the toilets are i will put a pamper 6 on katie.
we were in town last week and on the way back on the Bus she needed to wee. she tried her hardest to hold on but a few minutes later she looked at me with sad eyes and said mum i've peed myself.
I would just use pampers if i was on holidays but she needs plastic pants over them at night or they leak.
what do you do for long journeys?
do you use disposable nappies for holidays?
does your girls ever have day time accidents?

MumofKatie, When Katie makes it to the bathroom on time is her nappy 100 % dry or still a bit wet? My daughter wees her terries at night-
I dont know if these are all normal problems ? any suggestions please
1. When she sits or stands up from the bed
2. when I unfasten or waiting to unfasten her nappies and onesie. Can't do it quickly like a pamper and takes me up to 30 secs. I notice she's really desperate and begins squirting even when she fidgety trying to hold
3. Little droplets into changed nappies even she's just been. She says it's not on purpose but alwywas happens
4. Afraid of using the toilet alone in the dark, stands there and goes
5. Nightamre
What terries are Katie wearing now for bed ? If you haven't done so, scrap the baby ones, get two dozen or so extra absorbency nappies for teens _. They're purposely designed for heavy wetting and the terry towelling is babyishly soft and thick. This is suitable for Katie to wear doubles as they guard aginst her wet accidents till morning without leaking through the outside (my one does this) you can leave plastic pants off and allow her just to wear the nappies.

Listen here!!!!....I am not McMum or Sooz or anyone else for that matter.
I have been listed here as mumofkatie for a wee while and if you cared to check up on my posts you would see that i always only talk about my daughter katie.
My Daughter has a medical condition and the advise both NHS and Private is that the problem will sort itself in time and that for her to wear protection (nappies) at night and when requried in the day.
I have had some good advise from some of the posters on this site and been able to give others some support where needed also
you stated in the other threds that you were interested in stopping pervertion well feel free to do that in fact i'm with you on that if it's true pervertion but leave us genuine mothers alone.
I am simply a mother trying to do the right thing for my child and according to the medical proffesion that is what i'm doing.
I don't wear nappies have a fetish for nappies or anything else like that but believe nappies have made my daughters life better and she is responding by getting better too
please let this be an end to this matter!

Hi Reel
How old is your Daughter?
Katie is 6
Katie wears Kosicare Nappies for older children and Suprima 1211 plastic pants. these nappies are fantastic and the plastic pants are much better than the baby type from mothercare or whatever.
Katie has a very small weak bladder for her age and this results in a wet bed/nappy and during the day if she needs she has to go right away or within 3-4 mins she will loose control and pee herself.
At night Katie can sometimes wake when she starts to pee her nappy because she feels the wet which i have found a great benifit over pampers disposibles and the doctor said this helps her brain to tie the felling in the bladder with the wet feeling which wakes her and that slowly she will start to wake her before she starts to pee herself.
Katie has been wakening bursting to go more than before so i can see progress with this but she still ends up wet a lot of the time.
I have been told that it is normal for a child at this stage to wake really bursting just before if she was asleep she would wet herself and so when Katie sits up and starts to walk to the toilet will quite often start to pee herself.
I make sure when putting katies terry nappy on that it is tight enough to stay on but loose enough that a good tug will pull it down like pants for quickness but we still do have accidents at that, I have seen me just having the plastic pants pulled down to her knees and as i go back for the nappy see a wet spot start spreading accross the front of it. All you can do in that instance is quickly pull the plastic pants back up and give her a hug and change her into a dry nappy.
Katie doesn't have problems with dribbling a clean nappy nor is she scared to go to the toilet at night.
when do you put your child in her nappy?
does your child have daytime accidents like katie?

Mumofkatie,
The girls have not had daytime accidents recently, that much has improved as has nights for the oldest one. I now feel she is possibly going to be dry at night soon.
As for hols, yes we use disposables and the have a plastic panty on over. The youngest in Pampers and the oldest in Drynites. I do pack the terries for both of them as we went to a get together a year ago and the girls ran around all day and had much to drink including fizzy drinks and I knew that they would wet heavy that night and so I padded them up with terries and soakers and plastic pants and in the morning their nappies were both drenched.
As for when they wet, they are both wet when they wake up so it does happen while they are sleeping and the oldest one sometimes wakes up dry and has to go right away and she makes it, the youngest one no not yet.
As for long journeys I have them wear plastic pants over the underwear as just in case measure but we stop enough so they can go.
I hope that Katie keeps up the good work and gets to dry soon!

6 is nomal, some need time for the bladder to mature. My one is 7 and still wears at night and for day-naps. She's ok in the day apart from the occassion few accidents.
Kosicare terries are very comfy and soft on her and most importantly thick and absorbent enough without wee dampening the outside of the towelling. With double terries, I can leave the plastic pants off, allowing air to circulate.
I'm slightly worried: she seems to want her nappies quite often and asks me to change her, she won't say why but I think it's connected to fear of accidents and security/protection and comfort of the towel. Like I said, she recently began dripping into just changed nappies (from a few drops to squirts) even after she's just been, so not sure why ? I even try to avoid using the word Nappies but by saying 'wee/nightime towels' but she always calls them nappies.
I don't mind her wearing for sleep times but not so at others particularly she's going through 3 to 4 changes a day, maybe she's abit too old ?
Can you provide some advice here? What's Katie's changing routine ?
Good to learn of the progress Katie is making so far. |

Hi Reel
I don't have any problems with Katie wanting to wear nappies during the day. She has a nappy put on in the day if we are going out to town in the bus or somewhere where it is possible she won't get to a toilet within 3-4 mins.
I don't allow katie to use a nappy as an excuse to be lazy and she will always ask to go to the toilet when she needs to wee if she has a nappy on be that at home in bed or in town ect. I will always attempt to get her to a toilet unless it is not possible (i.e on a bus or something) rather than thinking well she's in a nappy anyway and telling her to pee herself.
If your daughter has a nappy on and needs to wee will she ask to go to the toilet or quite happily pee herself. you said you don't mind her having a nappy on at night but not other times as she goes through 3-4 changes a day.
If your daughter can stay dry in the day i would not be letting her wear nappies unless she is ill and staying in bed or something like that. At night nappies for bed wetters are the way forward i can see the progress that katie is making clearly.
I have a friend who has a little boy who is 5 and he wets at night and wears a nappy to bed. His mum started letting him wear a nappy the odd time during the day to the cinema etc and just told him to wet himself if he needed during the film. This led to problems where he started to regress instead of go forward and his mum put a stop to it as soon as she noticed.
In the house during the day Katie will make it to the toilet everytime at school her teachers know she must be allowed to go at once so no problems there. she only needs a nappy if there are not toilets going to be close by due to the fact that when she needs she has 3-4 mins and then she will loose control and wet herself (I will alway look for a toilet for her right upto the point where she tells me its to late mummy i've peed myself). nothing she can do!
hope some of that helps

Hay! sound good that your older daughter is getting closer to being dry at night. The younger one will get there too in her own time.
Sounds good that your older daughter can make it to the morning dry and going to the toilet. Katie will either wake up during the night when she starts peeing herself or bursting to go or she will wake up wet in the morning. she has never made it through a whole night without getting up to wee or peeing herself.
Hope to hear of more progress for your girls soon

Mumofkatie,
It sounds to like Katie is making progress at night. It's good when they start to show signs of becoming dry because they want to.
I know 2 other moms who have bedwetters and they use nappies at night also.
When I was growing up I knew of a girl who wet until age 14.
So bedwetting is not at all uncommon. I'm told it's more common in boys then girls.
