The latest version of iTunes

Is anyone else having problems with it putting album tracks in the wrong order?
It's always been a problem with it, but we used to be able to drag the songs back into the correct order, now it won't let me do that at all. The only thing I seem to be able to do is choose whether it plays the tracks in the first order it thinks is correct or to reverse the order. There's also buttons next to "Artist", "Album by year" and "track number" (along with "Name"), but they all change the track listing to some other weird nonsensical order. This happens with any random album, but not all of them. It can be one off the internet or one I've encoded from an original CD via iTunes itself.
I've checked the metatags, and they seem to be in order, unless there's some obscure tag I can't see, that iTunes uses as it's primary source of information. (That's my best guess)
