I'm new here, but I need some advice about marriage. My wife and I have been together for 4 1/2 years and married for almost 2 of those. She means the world to me, but it seems she doesn't need me a lot of the time.
Don't get me wrong, I haven't been all I can be as far as a husband is concerned. I just need some input on how to make everything the way it was in the beginning of our relationship.
If I were to lose her my world would fall down around me, but it doesn't seem like she feels the same toward me. It seems like the most important thing in her life is her career
I was your wife until a few months ago until i found out that my husband had a one night stand. Do you know why he had a one night stand? Because I wasn't there for him. I was always at work. Deep down i really wanted to be a wife, a housewife, look after my man but because he never told me this I carried on being a career girl.
He told me he wasn't bothered about having children so I thought yet again, I'd be a career woman.
Then the bomb was dropped.
Alot of talking later it was because I wasn't a wife, I wasn't interested in his life which was true. I had too much going on at work.
All he had to do was say and if you haven't already spoken to your wife about this then I suggest you do. You might just be surprised.
I am now 2 months pregnant with our 1st child. He told me last night that deep down thats all he's ever wanted but thought I was more interested in my job.
I would also suggest that she read The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands. She will look at you in a totally different light.

I'm very interested in your discussion. We are making a programme about women for Sky One and I would like to talk to women (or men) who have saved their relationships by returning to more traditional gender roles. I'm particularly interested in your comments about "The proper Feeding and Care of Husbands." I would be most grateful if you could phone me (in confidence) on 0207 985 7078 or email me at Emma. I look forward to hearing from anyone who has an opinion on the subject.
