|
|
| I recently went to the Dominican Republic - San Juan – Bahia Principe. I booked a 1 week holiday in a 5 star all inclusive hotel. The hotel turned out to be 4 star + and I personally would only have rated it as a 3. The beach was horrible not exotic at all. The staff was rude. To make matters worse I ended up with food poisoning 3 days later while staying at the hotel and spent 2 days in hospital connected to a drip. I had loads of drugs pumped into me also. I was told I had a bad stomach bacteria but I am sure it was food poisoning. I can truly say that this was the most terrifying experience I have ever had. I was glad to see the back of this country. The people are extremely poor is this country which was sad to see. I can honestly say that I would not recommend this holiday to my worst enemy. If you go you will defiantly need a strong stomach. Any ideas if I could get some form of compensation from this? How do I go about it? Has anyone else had a bad holiday experience that they would like to share? |

The only compensation you'll get is that you are alive. Trust me be grateful that you are.
I will say that when traveling to foreign countries it's best if you know family/friends. Always remember no matter what your stomach will not react the same. First rule of thumb is to bring the Imodium tablets with you on vacate.
Also you must remember that you can't drink the water. Even if you get a drink ask for no ice because the water is the ice. One thing you should also remember is that the juices/sodas are not the same, they are manufactured in DR so the water used in the soda will also make you sick. You have to set out for places that sell either shipped American type products.
I haven't had any bad vacates. My trips to Cancun taught me a lot of what to prepare for. You just learn as you live. My motto is stick to the chicken. Make sure it's well done. Drink mainly liquor and tea. Don't try new things stick to what you know.
Maybe if you write the hotel and inform them of your stay then maybe they might give you a voucher of some sort. But why even return. Just send them a letter stating what you believed happened in there buffet/restaurant and the accommodation's were horrible.
Next time try and get as much feedback from people who have stayed in the hotel before you book a trip. My friend went to DR and he had a ball, but then again he went there to cheat on his wife. Oh well! |
