I'm cool with Giuliani if he changes his stance on gun control, but McCain? No frickin way! His will to fight terrorism is no different then any of the democratic canidates: it's spineless.

Actually, I'm hoping Fred Thompson runs. He's a bit old looking but he has this quality I like and really seems to "get it" on the issues. He is far enough from Bush to not be influenced by him or hurt by his negatives, but is definitely not a liberal either.

We need health care , gun control , immigration control from Mexico , aid to education , something done about job loss abroad ,and some maturity in the war on terror .

Health Care - best thing we can do is allow more competition to lower prices and reduce the BS regulations while increasing the necessary ones.

Gun Control - you mean like hitting your target? I'm a gun-totin' Texas gal, don't talk to me about gun control!

We need health care , gun control , immigration control from Mexico , aid to education , something done about job loss abroad ,and some maturity in the war on terror .

We also need border control on Canada. You'd be shocked to see how many "questionables" (my own opinion) come in from the northern border, and there is currently only a tenth of the border personnel covering it than is the Mexican border. I like the idea of military armor and artillery, but that's me.

I would also favor 100% tariffs on any products being brought into the US by companies that have eliminated jobs here to go to third world labor markets. See how they like PAYING to do business here at a rate that makes the US wage seem like a dime store spree.

Agreed about Canada. Not sure about tarrifs, I think we need to consider that but focus in a few areas. Right now, despite the Democrats' cries of "corporate welfare" we actually have the HIGHEST corporate tax rates in the Western world, once you figure in state taxes. Europe's are largely lower and that is one (of many) reasons for job losses overseas. There are others too.

I like Fred Thompson as well. I just hope he's a really good speaker.

Bush "gets it" as well, for the most part, but he can't speak worth a darn. Whether it's Romney, Guiliani, or Thompson, the next president had better have some speaking skills.
