Has anyone used Dianette for mild/moderate acne?

I was prescribed this about a month ago but decided to hold off due to everything I read about side effects plus my skin seemed to have got a bit better.

I don't have severe acne, as it's only one section of my face that is affected. For the past year, I have (intermittently) been getting huge spots all round my chin, mouth and jaw. They can be so huge, they look unsightly and make-up doesn't cover big lumps, plus they can be painful. Some of them have been so huge, they have taken 6 weeks to go down! I had quite a few in the summer that left purple scars which took 6 months to fade.

I am 31 and have never had problems like this since being a teenager. I don't understand it. I am eating next to nothing because I am paranoid certain foods are causing this problem and now all I eat is fruit and veg and I'm getting very thin (lost 2.5 stone). This is all due to the psychological problems from my skin.

Has anyone else used Dianette when your acne is not severe? I have read the leaflet and it keeps talking about severe acne and I'm worried I'll do myself more harm than good. On the other hand, having huge, ugly zits at age 31 is embarrassing and upsetting and I want rid of the problem. Please help! I feel sick every time I feel new lumps forming under my skin, as I think my face is going to get scarred again, plus having embarrassment of a huge zit for another 2 weeks.

I would avoid going onto Dianette as it doesn't really solve the problem. I went on it for just mild acne and the acne I have suffered with since coming OFF of it is worse than what I had in the first place.
Dianette is a pretty awful pill as it really screws up your body - avoid it!

I don't know about Dianette but Freederm Gel is very good. You can buy it _ http://www.pharmacy2u.co.uk/details.asp?productid=FRG3

I also have been suffering from moderate acne for the past year. It's horrible. I hate waking up and see a new pimple on my face. I've used everything you can imagine. I was on antibiotics, but I found out that screws with your body and makes you fat. I gained weight on antibiotics, but anyway, I have started taking dianette. The first day in taking it I felt nauseous. I've noticed that I've been getting very moody lately too and I've only been on it for 3 days!
I am desperate though, so I want to see if it really cures my acne once and for all. I would get very moody anyway whenever I'd see a new pimple on my face, so hopefully this stuff works.

If you want, check out some reviews by patients who have either taken Dianette or are currently taking it.

I've just been to the doctors today to change my pill to dianette.
i was taking "Minocycline" (antibiotic) but i had to come off it ,the doctors believe that Minocycline caused me to have arthritis . I am only 20 and now have arthritis, !!!!!

anways back to Dianette , i really hopes this makes my acne go away without any side effects. I want to get rid of it more than anythink ,but it will still not make it right that i have arthritis just because i wanted to get rid of my spots!!!!

So stay away from Minocycline!!

i have used dianette on and off for last 7 years. im 38 now. i did not have a problem with my skin up till then. i get the problem across my chest and back. dianette is the only tablet that has ever shifted these spots and cleared them completely and if im being honset i have never had any problems with it side effect wise. obviously you need to be aware of the link to risk of vte. but you can find that info on the net. apparently it is now only used as an acne trwatmnet and no longer for contraceptive purposes too. you can buy iy _ as some gps wont prescribe it anymore.
