| Well define ok and what is legal. In canada they passed a law that has a last resort a parent may hit a child under the age of 12. But comon that should never have to happen. Parents should never let it get that bad. |

In the UK since the abolition of corporal punishment in schools - Assaults against teachers and other pupils along with criminal damage and truancy have rocketed.......you have to wonder if theres a link?
Parenting wise there are times when a spank across the backside or legs as a child I would say is acceptable - Its where the spank or slap is done with such force that marks are left that to me is excessive. This punishment should also only be given out when all form of reasoning has failed.
When you see some parents scream and shout or even smack children in public then you have to wonder what good they think they are doing. Quite often the child gets a smack for actually wanjting attention or for asking for something several times.
Also there are parents thats will smack children as a result of they themselves having had a bad day at work or having been on the receiving end of a verbal smack from someone.
There is a very fine line between chasdisement and child abuse - If you cross it then, you are effectivley showing the child that the way to get what you want is to beat someone |

Children require disipline. Sometimes a smack or shouting out to alert them is required.
Children today are disgusting. There is a lack of respect from them in the schools and towards their parents.
Bring back corporal punishment in schools and governments keep your noses out of our business and let us do our job. |

Please dont be a plonker.since the abolition of corporal punishment there has been the Falklands war and several other wars - What a stupid response !!!
If there was one good thing about corporal punishment it was that little billy asshole having got six smacks with the cane or strap kept a low profile for a week or so.
If it returned to school I would like to see someone appointed that had at least had some kind of assessment done on them and a good deal of life experience. There were too many teachers that used the cane or strap willy nilly.and the odd one I am sure that took some kind of sado masachistic pleasure from it.....
Its not gonna happen anyway and hypocritical as it may be, as a parent I would really want to know the reason my child was going to be caned BEFORE it was administered. |

| I beleive it is.and I don't think there is an age restriction on that. If you saw someone smacking their child I guess you could call the police.....Where it would lead I don't know but there have been several convictions for assualt by parents |

i was given a socail worker because me and my mum used to fight alot and she would hit me but i could never hit her shes my mum but she we all knew that she need to sort her self out one time she hit me so badly across my face i had a swollen cheek and bruises my social worker said that i could of pressed charges and she could of been imprisioned for up to five years if i showed the evidence of a mark on me..
But its wrong to hit your children im 17 now and
i still have never forgiven my mum!! EVER
she doesnt understand what she put me through over little things such as
going to KFC when i said i was staying in that how pathetic some of the reasons were..
So dont hit your kids.. They need to learn things for them selves and make choices yes talk and sort things out but if your angry and feel like hitting your chilren then youve got problems!!
dont you remember being young?? |

No one but you Danielle knows what you went through, I really feel for you. What an awful way to grow up - In fear of your own mum
I hope your life treats you better in the future x |
